Today’s Google Doodle for Alan Paton

Alan Stewart Paton was a South African author and activist born in January 11, 1903.He spoke out against racial segregation in Africa throughout his life fearlessly. Paton wrote several books on race and politics in South Africa. To raise awareness for increased crime rates in South Africa; he published his inspiring first novel cry, the beloved country in the year which apartheid was institutionalized. More than 15 million copies of the novel sold out all over the world in 20 languages. Three years before the end of apartheid he died from cancer in Durban in April 12, 1988.


Alan Paton is honoured at the hall of freedom of the liberal international organization. Today’s google has changed their icon to a doodle to celebrate the 115th birthday of this humanitarian.
